Spring Voices

The Wren

The wren is an inspector

Of the out of the way

And the underneath.

The underseer

Of the unfolding bud

And wind-borne creak.

A surveyor of the leafy shadows

And mossy hollows

In the cups of old tree roots.

A scurry, a flicker,

But rarely a whisper,

The ‘crier in the woods –

day break and all is well.

  1. I love this, it really captures the leafy underworld of its outlook that we never see xx
